Thanks to everyone who helped us along the way

We wanted to thank all of the wonderful people who helped us out while we were hiking The Cohos Trail. Our trip wouldn’t have been possible without you.

Jeff, thank you for driving us from Brooklyn to New Hampshire (and back). You are living proof that Craigslist is filled with angels. We enjoyed your company and conversation and hope to cross paths again soon.

Patrick, thank you for going out of your way to help us get to the animal hospital after our dog got quilled by a porcupine. Your kindness helped us through one of our toughest moments on the trail. Also, thanks for the V8. It was exactly what Biana needed.

Kristin, thanks for coming into the animal hospital on a Sunday to take care of Alex, for giving him medicine, for reassuring us that we’d be back on the trail in a day, and for giving us a ride into Lancaster. We have nothing but praise for your vet skills and your animal hospital.

Daniel, thank you for giving us a ride back to the trail after Alex had recuperated. Thanks for the stories about the Westminster Dog Show, tourists, moose, and life in New Hampshire. Thanks for being patient while we drove back and forth trying to find the trailhead. We’ll gladly recommend White Mountain Limo to hikers in the area.

Joy, thanks for cooking up a great breakfast for us at Applebrook and for printing the latest trail update info for us before we departed. Tom, thanks for loaning us those pliers so we could pull out Alex’s last quill. You guys run one heck of a B&B.

To the crew from the South Pond Recreational Area (Lori, Brad, Karen, and Rosie): Thanks for letting us use the phone to get our cache, for fixing Adam’s glasses, for giving us a tour of the RV and telling us about the RV lifestyle, for giving us delicious dates from California, and for being good company. Also, thanks for taking such nice care of the beach at South Pond. Its a lovely spot.

Nancy, thanks for driving the supply cache we sent to Stark Village Inn to us on the trail. Sorry we couldn’t spend the night at your inn.

Frank and Linda, thank you for giving us a ride to The Sportsman’s Lodge to pickup our supply cache, and for lending us much needed soap, shampoo, and laundry detergent. Roger and Gaylee, thanks for the ice cream. You made us an offer we couldn’t refuse.

Billy, thanks for offering us the ride into Pittsburg Village. You helped us keep Alex off a busy asphalt road. Also, thanks for showing us the one spot where there’s cell phone reception in Pittsburg. Good luck with your stone work.

Dickie, thanks for giving us a beautiful house on The Connecticut River to relax in! We were overwhelmed by your generosity. Thanks for the homemade shepherd’s pie, the ice cream, the company, and the advice.

Pete and Lainie, thanks for maintaining such an awesome trail, for giving us a place to stay during and after our hike, for the tea, ice cream, and barbeque, for the ATV rides around the mountain, for the veggies from your garden, for the opportunity to paint some blazes and give back to the trail, for your stories about life in the North Country, and for just being such amazing people.

Rooney Tunes, thanks for joining us on our last day of hiking. Thanks for putting up with our stench. Your car’s trunk will one day recover. Thanks for taking us moosin’, for surprising us with all sorts of delicious goodies, for helping us out with trail work, and for giving us a ride from the border to southern New Hampshire.
